Building a pergola under our apple trees on a August weekend.
A PERGOLA is a shaded walkway, passageway or sitting area, in a garden, made of vertical posts that usually support cross-beams, upon which woody vines are trained. Pergolas are sometimes confused with arbors. An ARBOR is generally regarded as a smaller structure with wood bench seat, enclosed with lattice panels forming a framework for climbing plants. We may have an ARBOLA!

"I would say get the wood early cut it over a few days so you can get straight to building on the weekend. Also you definitely need at least 4 people for the assemblage stage. It was really fun!! So glad we did it...very rewarding!" Megan

The pergola was a terrific and thoughtful Father's Day gift from Megan. We would never have finished all the structural work on it in just one weekend, though, without the hours of hard work Maddy and Joe put into it too. I can't wait to finish the lattice work and plant the grapes and wisteria plants! George
